A memorial service for Gerald Wayne Calloway will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at New Bethel Baptist Church at 1:00pm.
Brother Gerald Calloway was born July 19, 1949, to David Calloway and Louise (Kidd) Calloway in Ruston, Louisiana. He was the only son of two siblings born into that union. His second mom, Agnes Willis Calloway, helped raise him to be the man he was.
At an early age, he joined the New Hope Baptist Church in Ruston, LA, under the leadership of Dr. C.E. McLain. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Ruston, LA, and attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA.
He later moved to Marshall, Texas where he worked for Norit America/ICI/Darco for 20+ years as an electrician, and would often complete electrical or carpentry jobs in the Marshall area.
Gerald was a faithful member of The New Bethel Baptist Church, where he could often be seen singing in the Men’s choir.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing dominoes, cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers football team, and grilling on his favorite barbeque grill. Many would say that his kindness, friendliness, and humility, were some of his defining qualities. The moment he walked into a room his infectious spirit and humor graced the atmosphere. “Cally,” as he was endearingly called, was respected by many, and loved by many more.
Our beloved Gerald departed this earthly life on July 10, 2023. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lousie Calloway and his parents David and Agnes Calloway. He leaves fond memories that will forever be cherished by his children, David Calloway, and Candace “KK” (Terrell) Dominique; his sister Gwen (Reverend John) Lewis and a host of extended family, and friends.
